La Meva Ciutat

Mi Ciudad
My City

Here's some photos:
My street corner

Close up of the street sign, by law, all public things have to be in Valencian and Spanish, it reads "Painters' Street"

The view of Benidorm, a neighboring city

Some people looking at the view

Front of the church, there will be a post to come with more church photos because it's gorgeous

View, lot's of views

El Mar

A view down one of the streets near me

The church

Grape vines

A neat street in the shopping district

More of that

Mountains!

Streets of Altea

The sea

One of my more favourite places, right out on the sea

A tapestry with Altea's coat of arms in the library. Atop is Sant Blai (Saint Blaise), Altea's patron saint.  His big feast with a procession and fireworks is this Monday.

Street signs in Valencian.  Like I said above, the law dictates that in "La Comunidad Valenciana" (my region), all signs and public texts, including assignments and handouts at school, must be in both Spanish and Valencian.  It's amazing how people get all bent out of shape when things are only in Spanish but nobody bats an eye if all that's written is just the Valencian.

There's a storm a comin'!

Where I go every morning to buy a fresh loaf of huge French bread for 80 cents

A statue commemorating the hard work of the normal working man

Many banners like these hang all over town for a local fiesta called Santísimo Cristo del Sagrado.  This weekend will be lots of parties, fireworks, food, processions, music, and Holy Mass.  More photos to come!

Finally, a view of my street.
Pax & Bonum,
Sean
